What Client’s Say

Reviews for Harvesting The Angels
Fantastic Read
Harvesting The Angels centers on a tough topic, child laundering. Children snatched from the loving arms of their parents and sold to people so desperate for a child that they will do anything to make it happen.
When Hong Kong Inspector William Lau’s daughter is taken, he vows to scour the earth to find her. His search leads him straight into the path of Franklin City, Tennessee’s not-quite retired Detective Bill Doolin. While working a cold murder case, Bill and William find their investigations, and their lives, have a few commonalities.
I loved the characters in this second installment of the Bridge Club Series from Author Richard Powell. Bill and his behind-the-scenes friends are up to their old ways of meddling and mayhem. This time the tiny lives of kidnapped little kids are on the line and they step up in a big way.
I thought the main topic of this book would be hard to stomach but it was handled effortlessly by the author. He has shed a blinding light on the travesty of child laundering and at the same time had me laughing with the characters and aching for the return of little Anna to her parents. Then he threw in a major plot twist that had me grinning like a lunatic. A fantastic read all around.
Chilling
Powell has an extraordinary talent for real dialogue and real characters. What a fascinating and chilling tale.

Reviews for The Life That He Lived
More Than a Holocaust Survivor Story
The Life that he Lived was full of surprises, but totally believable. Grandfather's beginnings were tragic--a holocaust survivor--but the story of his life after Auschwitz and the development of his character from his childhood survival to a successful but yet complicated life in the USA is compelling. Grandson's attempts to revive his literary career result in a young man learning to understand his grandfather, come to terms with his own bewildered self, and finally growing up at the age of 28. I found this a very satisfying family drama and mystery.
Totally believable!
This was one of my favorites of Marguerite's books. Wow! It's a very plausible story line. The main character begins his sleuthing & it takes him all over trying to discover many truths while writing his novel. And then Marguerite does it again with "I didn't see that coming"! Well done. Some romance, lots of mystery & hard work on the farm. Well done!
An Amazing Story, A Must Read
I read this book in 2 days because I could not put it down. It is an amazing story, full of suspense and love and relationships.
Reviews for The Shelter of Darkness
Very interesting read
The Shelter of Darkness by Marguerite Mooers
This is a very interesting story that was well researched. It follows the life of John, Cathy and Jenny. From confinement in the National Leprosarium in Carvile to New York. John and Cathy had leprosy and her daughter, Jenny, was being kept by a caregiver who neglected her. In 1945 Leprosy was a disease that was feared. No one wanted to be near anyone with leprosy and their relatives soon forgot them. Cathy and the baby died in childbirth.
Raising Jenny by himself, John carried on. They came upon Annie Conroy who was pregnant and fleeing her abusive husband. Annie was invited to live with them so she could deliver her baby in safety. Telling you anymore would ruin the book for you.
This was a book won on goodreads.
A Gripping Read
I read this book in one sitting. It takes place mid 20th century and is the story of a man after he is diagnosed with leprosy, then forcibly taken to Carville, the only place that held people with this disease. It is also the story of how individuals overcome severe limitations and sorrows.
The characters are well developed and the plot engaging.
Nice, as is
The author has researched the then (early 20th century) touchy subject of leprosy well, and she does a smooth job of guiding "John" through the vicissitudes of small town America once his secret is out. She also kept the story from being linear by means of the alternating persons . . . make that alternating VOICES . . . which put us readers into the hearts and minds of the main characters. Each formed his or her own sub-plot, which Marguerite brought back into the conclusion.
Reviews for A Casualty of Hope
A Fast-Paced Thriller
A Casualty of Hope by Marguerite Mooers is a powerful tale that will plunge readers deep into its danger. Readers will follow a woman in a snowy desert running from an enemy. Nightmares that haunt, a killer coming after you, and terror that will bring chills down your spine are what makes this an absolute must read for all. Marguerite Mooers introduces readers to a woman who battles all this and more. She was married to a man who should be locked away forever. Bernie returns back home thinking that she can move on until danger reappears in her life. Causing her to rethink everything and to feel at a loss for what to do. Then, there is the new man in her life who has been holding onto a secret that he wasn't able to let go until the ending. Will this cause a rift between them or will they finally find the peace and life they always dreamed of...Marguerite Mooers is a talented writer whose characters will send your heart pounding with fear and your palms sweating in suspense. Overall, I loved reading this novel. A Casualty of Hope is everything readers will want and can ask for in a fictional piece. Brilliantly well-written and told for readers worldwide to enjoy. I highly recommend A Casualty of Hope to all.
Reviews for Take My Hand: A Novel
Amazing First Book
This was an amazing first book. It told a very believable story of a cold case of a child's kidnapping and death. It caught me up in the first few pages. Another great part of this story was the development of the character of the policeman who worked this case. He was a grandfather, who has lost his wife and who is raising his granddaughter alone. The story was so engrossing, I read it in an evening and will probably read it again. I hope this author will continue her writing.
I bought the book because the author
This is the first mystery book I have ever read. I LOVED it. I bought the book because the author is local to my area. I don't personally know her. The characters' personalities were so real. Fast moving so I never lost interest in the plot. The "home town" wasn't real but other towns and most certainly the snow storm, are true North Country.

Reviews for The Girl in the Woods
The Setting's Another Character!
The Girl in the Woods is a fast and engaging reading experience from beginning to end. The aura of mystery, the very human characters, the search and rescue dogs, and the Adirondacks--perhaps themselves another character in the story--make for a chilling, suspenseful read. Whether you believe in ghosts or spirits or not, there's plenty to wonder about in The Girl in the Woods. I recommend it.
Read while camping
Fun story to read while you are actually in the woods. Plot and character development is spot on. Story keeps you engaged right to the end. Highly recommended.
Reviews for The Whistleblower
Great read with a fun zinger!
I thoroughly enjoyed The Whistleblower. Marguerite has a true knack of weaving a tale of murder, with a love interest & then BAM, the zinger. Her books are very easy to read, but, hard to put down. Once you start, it's difficult not to finish it. Her descriptions of the area are vivid & picturesque! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
A book to buy
Marguerite Mooers can tell a story that keeps you turning pages. I recommend that you buy her latest book, Whistleblower. You’ll feel involved with the characters and be caught up in the intrigue. The book is hard to put down until all the criminals are brought to justice.
